I need glasses.
I’ve needed them for a while but kept putting it off.
I’ve been busy (was my excuse).
But it wasn’t stopping me from getting on with life so fixing it wasn’t a priority.
It was a bit of a pain, but something I was used to.
Yet, the reality was more painful.
I messed up recipes.
Food labels could only be read on a chair under the kitchen light.
Squinting like a mole in the sunlight.
I misread important documents. Not a good thing!
I had headaches when reading for lengthy periods.
The truth is the pain was more than I was willing to admit.
I guess that’s what makes us human.
I didn’t want to admit I was getting older. I was in denial.
When we keep putting things off, they call it procrastination. It’s Latin and means “To put off until tomorrow”.
We know we should do it, it’s the right thing to do but we don’t.
We blame time but it has very little to do with time management.
In reality, we are hurting ourselves. It’s true in our personal life and business.
I’m a lucky guy. I get to spend time and build relationships with all our clients and more than once I have heard.
“We meant to do business with you years ago Ben and I wish we had done it sooner”.
I always ask “What stopped you?”
The answer is a shrug of the shoulders.
Some decisions we put off until we reach a tipping point and we can longer put up with the problem.
Then we act.
